ILKLEY West Yorkshire England.

Baht"At. !

DSCN0664.JPGMy day trips out have been mostly in North Yorkshire England. But this one is in West Yorkshire.---- Took a bus from York to Leeds, then bus to Ilkley. Ilkley is a picturesque town with Victorian architecture in the river Wharfe valley, situated at the south end of the Yorkshire Dales, in the Pennine Hills. The moors and lovely countryside all around. It is 12 miles from Bradford and 17 miles from Leeds.------There is a train service to Leeds, journey time 30 minutes. Bus station is next to train station in Ilkley ,.-----I can"t walk to far these days, so i didn"t see everything. There are loads of cafe and tea rooms, I found a lovely cafe called Ginners at Ilkley in Newbrook Street on the road down to the river Wharfe.==================The town gives its name to the Yorkshire unoffical anthem, " On Ilkley Moor Baht At ", written in Yorkshire dialect. It starts " Wheear "Ast Tha Bin Sin Ah Saw Thee " " On Ilkley Moor Baht At." If you cant make it out here is translation. " Where have you been since i saw you last"" On Ilkley Moor without a hat "DSCN0598.JPGDSCN0595.JPGDSCN0596.JPGDSCN0597.JPGDSCN0604.JPGDSCN0603.JPGDSCN0602.JPGDSCN0601.JPGDSCN0600.JPGlarge_DSCN0599.JPG CLICK SMALL PICTURES FOR INFO.--------Fishing takes place on the river, as well as Boat trips.
